THE FOLLOWING DIRECTORY was compiled by the Consortium on Children's Asthma Camps. The
Consortium on Children's Asthma Camps was established in 1988 to coordinate the camp
activities of national organizations involved in the care of children with asthma. The
purpose of the Consortium is to promote and foster camps for children with asthma. The
Consortium includes representatives from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and
Immunology; American Academy of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy and Immunology; American
College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; American Lung Association; American Thoracic
Society; and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

asthma, was established 19 years ago by the American Lung Association of Colorado. Champ
Camp provides children with asthma an opportunity they might not otherwise have to enjoy a
weeklong summer camp experience. Campers participate in daily asthma education sessions,
aquatics, hiking, outdoor education, canoeing, and evening camp activities. The year-round
commitment of more than 100 volunteers helps make Champ Camp possible. Doctors, nurses,
respiratory therapists, and ALAC staff supervise campers 24hours-a-day to ensure they have
fun in a safe, healthy environment.
